Dark rings around the corner of the lips can be caused by many reasons such as hyper-pigmentation, hormonal imbalance and multiple other factors. These are common and we often try to cover them using makeup. However, these dark patches can be treated at home using a few natural ingredients. These ingredients can be directly applied or with another ingredient. Following is the list of remedies you can try to reduce pigmentation around the mouth.
Gram flour (also known as besan) can effectively help in lightening the skin tone. Mix half a teaspoon of turmeric with 2 teaspoon of gram flour and form a paste by adding a few drops of water or milk. Apply this mixture on the affected area, leave it for 10-15 minutes and rinse it.
Potato juice contains natural bleaching agents that help in preventing dark patches. Grate a potato and then squeeze it to extract the juice from it. Apply this juice around your mouth and wash it off after 20 minutes with cold water.
Honey and Lemon
Lemon and Honey are very effective in treating pigmentation and brightening the skin tone. Take one lemon and squeeze the juice, then add the same amount of honey and combine the two. Apply this mixture on the affected area and leave it for 15-20 minutes and then rinse.
Glycerin and Rose Water
A mixture of rose water and glycerin helps in treating dark rings and dryness around the lips. Mix the two ingredients in equal parts and massage it on the affected area. Keep it overnight and wash it off in the morning.
Oatmeal contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that can be effective to reduce pigmentation. Take 1 teaspoon of oatmeal and grind it. Add some water to the powder to make a paste. Apply the paste on the face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Once dried, wet the face a little and gently scrub it off. Using this twice a week will work very well.
Green Peas Powder
Green peas powder reduces the melanin release which eventually helps in reducing pigmentation. Wash the peas and dry them before grinding them into a powder. Mix 1-2 teaspoon of this powder with some milk to form a paste-like consistency. Apply it on the affected area and wash after 15-20 minutes. Do this once a week for quicker results.
