Rimjhim Hada (Founder)
In conversation with Rimjhim, we learn a little bit more about the trend-tradition fusion in fashion.
When asked about the inspiration behind the brand she says, “Since childhood, I admired my mom’s elegant way of style. I love wearing Rajputi poshaks and pure chiffon saris. At my wedding in 2015, my mother gifted me an exquisite century-old gold-zari Rajputi poshak, that I fused with a new fabric for a contemporary touch. These poshaks were passed on from generation and were kept intact to preserve the tradition. During my college time, I designed ethnic attires with contemporary silhouettes from my mom’s bandhej/lehriya sari collection. On the other hand, my partner Anurag was always intrigued by the beautiful heritage and cultural diversity and explored their prominence in the palaces, forts, memorials, and museums in the country.”
Nitibha Kaul (Digital Content Creator)
Rimjhim is a software engineer and coder by profession who graduated from SRM University, Chennai and had worked with an MNC. Anurag is a Masters’s in business management from Pune and digital marketing from XLRI, having vast experience in e-commerce and payments. The combination of both of their interest and expertise led to the seed of the idea of Aachho.
She says nothing would make us happier than to hear your friends and family all say Aachho (“too good” in Rajasthani!) every time you step out in one of our outfits.
Kompal Matta Kapoor (International Blogger)
Having learnt that Rajasthan is a land that celebrates the rich cultural heritage with the vibrancy of colours and exquisite craftsmanship, they coined the term Aachho that reflects the belongingness of Rajasthan while the regional Rajasthani word means ‘Too Good.’ They took inspiration from the traditional hand-block prints and added an edge to the existing silhouettes. The entire research and planning process was done in Mumbai and the site www.aachho.com was launched in 2018.
Aachho is seen leaving its mark in the form of fusion of the effortless art and the modern aesthetics—the rich prints and patterns of Rajasthan’s into contemporary clothing. They further popularise and reinvent the skilful gems of Rajasthan—block-printing, hand-painting, gota patti, bandhej, lehriya, exclusive embroidery motif, tie/dye, ajrakh, indigo, hand beadwork, vibrant colour palettes, bold designs, and, lastly, the enchanting floral prints.
